Do you love TED Talks?

So do I. In fact, they’re one of my favorite ways to spend a lunch break or relaxing evening. The ideas and positivity of TED shine through in every talk – and often leave me more inspired to get out there and take action.

I recently realized that there are a lot of TED Talks by young girls. They cover a broad range of topics, and their ideas demonstrate just how powerful girl power really is to the future of our planet and society.

Yet no TED event has focused solely on girl power. So we’ve put together a range of blogs that showcase the incredible ideas these girls have. Check out the TED talk below, and stay tuned for more.

Melati and Isabel Wijsen are two young girls on a mission – to stop the use of plastic bags in their beautiful island home of Bali. As they discuss, plastic bags are virtually indestructible – yet they often end up in landfills or throughout our towns, posing a hazard to people and wildlife. In 2015, Melati and Isabel took the stage at TEDGlobal London to talk about their new campaign to stop the use of plastic bags – which even included a hunger strike!

Their passion for helping the environment shines through. Melati and Isabel remind us that we all have a part to play in making our world a better, greener place – even if it’s as simple as changing the types of bags we use or participating in community cleanups.
