I game because I used to dabble in game development.

When I was younger, I used to play online multiplayers like Minecraft to meet friends and escape the everyday drama. There, I met an indie game developer, who created games he wanted to play. I knew games were made by people, but I never thought about a single person making a game. I then threw myself into game development for a while.

You see, making a game is hard. There are so many things that can go wrong and loads to remember. A misplaced semicolon can break your game. I made a couple of simple, arcade styled games, but it really was not my thing, so to speak. After learning so much about making games, I had a better understand of what it took for other people to make them. I gained a greater respect for indie game developers. Specifically game jam games interested me. The idea of someone making a game in such a short amount of time for a game jam was just impossible in my head. The things these people were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, were truly amazing.

So I played their games. There are so many good games out there, just waiting to be discovered. So many good mechanics hidden in simple games, amazingly well drawn graphics, new ways of looking at things.

From time to time I go back to game development, but mainly I just play through as many games as I can on my YouTube channel and write about tons of individual games for various websites.
