Who were the girls and women who inspired you during your girlhood? These people were immensely important and we think they should be honored.
Here at Girl Museum, every two years (even) we have an exhibition, a Heroines Quilt, to celebrate those who helped us, whether they knew it or not, through our girlhoods.
This person can be a friend, family member, person in your community— someone real, fictional, or imaginary.
To submit, please write us 250- 450 words about your girlhood heroine in a Word or Text file. Let us know who they were and what they meant to you. Think about how they made you feel and how they affected who you are today.
As the entries are made into a Quilt, we need an image: if the person is NOT in the public domain, like a relative or friend, send a separate .jpg or .png with your Word document file. If they are in the public domain, please send links to suggested images, and we will do our best to find a copyright-free image.
Send your image and text files to share@girlmuseum.org with the subject heading Heroines.
The deadline is 1 December 2025.
We look forward to your submissions!
