I love going on hikes. I am most comfortable in nature and exploring our world. Girls who go on adventures always inspired me. I think I learned about the story of Sacajawea when I was in high school. It seemed like a crazy thing for the men explorers to hire this girl to take them across the country, especially when they probably didn’t have the best of intentions towards her people. What I imagined was being out there in the openness of the west of America in the early 1800s and how beautiful it must have been. She was incredibly brave and smart, which made her even more heroic. I also remember that she spent years guiding these men and never got paid for it. Typical.
