When I was a child, in the second or third grade in school, I was a lonely most of the time. That’s when I found writing as my companion on the way. So, whenever I had time or I was free, I used to write short imaginary stories. From then, the last thing I wanted to write about was myself, my life, anything about me. I wrote about other lands, other people, other lives, because I found my life and myself too boring. So, books and stories, from then on, have become my good friends and companions. They have changed me. They have saved me. From that loneliness.

But things always change, after the fall of Afghanistan and migration, I found my story important to be told. As boring as I find myself today too, I try to tell my story. I try to make stories of other women be told and heard. I have a really good friend, Ashley, who, with all the good intentions indeed, suggested me to write about my day. It intrigued me to think about what I do in a day, because I think if I write about my day, it wouldn’t even be 100 words. But I challenged myself and here I am, writing about a normal day in my life.

I wake up early every morning, around 5 or 5:30 in the morning, I do some reading, I clean my room, then I get ready to go to literacy center to teach my students. I make my journey intentionally longer to the literacy center because in the morning, the air is fresh, there aren’t a lot of people in the roads, and I love to walk. Then obviously, I teach my students, a class of nearly 40 people. After that, I do some more reading and writing until it’s 11 o’clock, and then I teach another little girl for an hour. After that, I go to a school to take some math, physics, etc. courses. I study there until 4:30 in the afternoon. After that, I directly head to library, where I read. If I have any homework, I write that, or simply just do whatever I have to do. I come back home in the evening, I relax for some minutes, then I help with some household chores. Perhaps watch an episode of the show I am enjoying these days, eat dinner, and check my tomorrow’s schedule. Then it’s already late at night and I sleep, as I have to get up early the next day.

And yes, this is all I do in a typical day, sometimes there is more work to do, and sometimes it’s a bit looser than usual. I think it’s important to be grateful for every single day that we’re alive, and we need to make the best of it. We need to try to the best of our ability to enjoy every moment of our lives and don’t forget that it’s not for granted, I mean, life.
