I am 28 years old, and I love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
A year ago, I never would have thought I’d say that, but it’s totally true. I love this series for so many reasons, and have come to love it even more as MLP celebrated Friendship Day on July 30.
International Friendship Day began in 2011 “with the idea that friendship…can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.” The United Nations emphasizes the involvement of young people, as future leaders who can participate in activities that include different cultures, promote international understanding and respect, and are in service to others.
MLP is celebrating with generationOn, a global youth service movement powered by kids and teens. They encourage kids to play fun games and activities with friends while learning how to make the world a better place.

And as a good friend, I’d like to share with you some of the reasons that I love MLP – and why you might, too:
When I’m in doubt, I remember my soul sister pony Twilight Sparkle, and how even she doesn’t always know what her destiny is either – and that’s okay.
Pinkie Pie is always good for a laugh and a smile, but she also reminds us that sometimes the best medicine for our fears and dark times is laughter.
Ultimately, MLP reminds us that working together, embracing our differences, and spreading friendship is the best way to make a positive difference.
Hope you had a happy Friendship Day!
