Born Caila Marsai Martin in Plano, TX, she is best known for her role as Diane in ABC sitcom Blackish. Her acting career began at the tender age of five years old, has starred in (and lent her voice) in various television and movie productions. Her tenacity and business acumen created a vehicle for her to expand her (and others like her) opportunities in an industry that would impose limitations – her own production company.
Genius Productions was realized in 2019 with Martin standing as CEO to “inspire and illuminate the diverse experiences of young girls and people of color”. To date, Martin is the youngest person in history to executive produce a studio backed movie in 2019 called Little, a second feature film in 2022 titled Fantasy Football and several other movies and television series in development for various studios.
Martin has become a symbol of empowerment to a new generation of young female entrepreneurs, showing them that no matter the size, your dreams can come true.
