Who is Jane Goodall?

Jane Goodall is one of the most famous nature activist and conservationists. When she was young, her father gave her a chimpanzee stuffie and her journey toward loving chimpanzees and nature started. She didn’t have enough money for college, but she was determined to study chimpanzees, so she saved her money to get a ticket to Kenya. There she met a famous scientist that asked her to study chimpanzees. She was so excited to go to Gombe, Tanzania to study and learn about chimps. She discovered that chimps use tools. At that time this is something people only thought they could do. She also learned that chimpanzees have lots of behaviors and personalities, like humans. Some were kinds and quiet, but some were mean and loud. This transformed the way people thought about chimpanzees and all animals.

Amazing things about Jane Goodall

Jane was amazing because she stuck with her passion and did things her own way. Even when people thought her ways were not right, she did what she knew was the best choice. For example, instead of numbering the chimps she studied, she gave them names. She was patient when things didn’t work out at first. She sat quietly in the same spot over and over waiting for the chimpanzees to show themselves. She didn’t give up. She studied animals with care and respect. She brought new knowledge about chimps to the world. She worked hard to protect nature in every way she could think of.
