Dear Reader,
It’s issue 30 of Girl News International, which sounds very grown up. Of course, as with any momentous occasion, we welcome this issue as celebration, and do we have BIG news about girl’s all over the world! At the end of last month, this came from the overwhelming win for pro-choice activists in Ireland last as the 8th amendment was repealed– placing the control of women’s bodies firmly back in in the possession of women. This issue of GNI is nod toward celebrating the control young women are regaining over their bodies: from make-up less dolls, to a fifteen year-old girl who is bravely considering having a hysterectomy to eliminate severe premenstrual dysmorphic disorder (PMDD)– something that is still to be fully understood by suffers and health professionals alike. As always, let this issue also shed light on those young women who are still begging for their bodies to be treated with the maturity and respect that they deserve, we’re sure you’ll agree that’s is something worth celebrating!
