Hello! My name is Hannah Spencer. I currently live in Tuscaloosa, AL, where I attend the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) but I am from a small town in Michigan. I have two majors in History and Political Science, with two minors in Russian and Women’s Studies. Although I am kept busy with classes, I love to spend time with my friends, run, crochet, and play piano!

My dream job changes from day to day –  right now, I would love to be a culture historian, focused on women in Slavic cultures. Wherever that would land me in the job world, I am happy to be! My favorite museum I’ve been to is the Georgian National Museum. There is a permanent exhibition called the Museum of Soviet Occupation, featuring archive documents, photographs, videos, and artifacts beginning with the short-lived Georgian independence from 1918-1921 to the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

One of the biggest issues I see facing women today is the “second shift,” in which women are in the workplace but are performing an unfair share of domestic labor and childcare. This work is often undervalued because it is uncompensated, but its importance is immensely valuable to society.
