Hello! I’m Danyelle R. Hunter 🙂

I graduated from Spelman College, an all-women’s college, with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Women’s Studies. My studies gave me a strong base in feminist theory and helped me learn to communicate and advocate with clarity and influence. I aim to work with girls’ organizations to contribute to their safety, wellness, and joy.

My life goal is to serve as the Chief Communications Officer for nonprofits that support women and girls. One issue that concerns me significantly is the impact of social media on girls and young women. It’s alarming that over a third of 11-to 21-year-olds feel they must use filters to change their appearance in social media posts. I would love to help change that.

In my community, I steward a Little Free Library; I manage a small community book exchange that operates out of a charming, often handcrafted, wooden box where neighbors can take or leave books freely. My role involves maintaining the library by keeping it stocked with a diverse selection of free books, ensuring it’s clean and inviting, and promoting its use within the community. By fostering a love of reading and providing accessible literature, I help nurture a community resource that encourages literacy and community engagement. My library is called Pink Literary Haven.

The Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida, is my favorite museum. It has a vibrant atmosphere and a diverse range of contemporary artists, and my favorite exhibition currently on display is Basil Kincaid’s Spirit in the Gift.

I enjoy hiking and rowing. I love having big-hearty moments with my family, eating my mom’s Caribbean food, talking to my best friend Sumayyah, blowing bubbles and hula hooping with my nieces and nephews, and being loved by my husband, Jonathan, our son, Ender, and our dog, Pringles Pringleton III.
