For International Women’s Day 2021, The Open Collab, headed by musicians Charlie + Jake, created a show called “She Wolves.” Spoken word poet Tara Griffin wrote an explosive, moving poem, backed by the music styling of Charlie + Jake and supplemented with improvisational dance from dancers around the world. Celebrating the joy and messiness that is womanhood, the first performance raised money for a women’s shelter in Bristol, England. Now released on all major platforms, future revenue will be donated to The Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation, which works to help children in poverty find a passion in life. The charity is a cause close to Tara Griffin’s heart:

The Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation supported me through my teenage years and beyond, all run by the most inspirational woman Lindsey Wylie in honour of her inspirational and beautiful daughter Allie.”

In Tara’s words, “She Wolves” is a “powerful exploration and a manifesto of sorts to the power of women and girls.” Deeply moving, Tara’s passionate performance is supported by the beauty of both Charlie + Jake’s music and the dancers.

We at Girl Museum are honored that she wanted to share it with us, and in turn, are excited to share it with you. Knowing the proceeds will help girls to find their power and their passions is something we can back.
