The first video game I have played with is the Game Boy Color. Funny how it just points out who is its intended audience are from the brand. It was my cousin’s unused console and the only game that they let me play was the Pokémon. It was buggy too. Despite it returning to the same introduction part of the game when I switch it on, the experience of controlling the character was entertaining for me when I was little.

Video games were a boys’ thing, not girls. Now everything has changed, drastically in the gaming industry. The gaming community has shifted from exclusivity to a more open demographic of players.

I enjoy playing games, it is in a way an escape of reality and a medium where you can be someone else. Most of the games that I have played have narratives. My most recent and favourite game so far is Red Dead Redemption 2. I only learnt about the game from a friend I met through another game. That’s another thing why I love gaming.

Online gaming allows me to connect with people who have the same interests. I can join in with various communities in different parts of the world too! Playing online builds an environment for teamwork and teaches how important communication is.

It is also a place for creativity. In comparison to other mediums of media, gaming is interactive and offers freedom for the players to wander in the space they have created. When I participate in my friend’s game we do random, wacky activities and basically find ways to break the physics of the game.

Gaming is fun. Gaming is for everyone.
