Like everyone else over the last 2.5 years, we here at Girl Museum have had to make adjustments. As remote workers from the beginning, working with Girl Museum hasn’t changed dramatically, but our personal lives have. Between new jobs, new homes, international moves, health scares, doctoral studies, and new family members, the senior staff of Girl Museum have a lot on our plates, even without the stresses that a pandemic (and wars, and climate change…) add. And so we need to breathe.
At the start of this year we instituted a bit of a slow down on the blog. But we’re going to take that one step further, and the blog is going to take a hiatus. Mostly. We’ll still post our monthly Rants, intern introductions, and occasional other posts. But what we won’t be doing is actively seeking out and generating content. Should the mood strike us, we’ll absolutely post. But we’re not holding ourselves to an arbitrary posting schedule.
This is particularly bittersweet for me. I’ve managed the blog nearly continuously since 2011, barring the year I was on metal health/maternity leave. But now, in the final stages of an international move from the UK back to the US, I simply do not have the time to dedicate to anything beyond facilitating everything that such a move entails. BUT, when I came back from maternity leave, I was energized and refreshed and ready to dive back in. I hope that, in a few months, I’ll come back with those same feelings, new ideas, and exciting new material.
With love for all of you, from all of us at Girl Museum,
Katie Weidmann
